Fellowship is the life of the church. Without fellowship, our gatherings are just mere meetings instead of being corporate worship experiences. Without fellowship, we are merely associates instead of being brothers and sisters. Without fellowship, God's word ceases to have the effect it should--our common goal being to "love one another" even as Christ has loved us.
Below are some ideas you could employ to deepen your fellowship with the members of the body here this week.
- Host a prayer and game night. Intertwine playing board games with taking time to pray for one another before ending the night.
- Host a praise and dessert night. Have some people over to sing some songs and have dessert and coffee. It can be awkward to try to sing together, but after the first verse, everyone is more comfortable.
- Have a dinner picnic at a local park. If you don't want to have people in your house, you can meet somewhere else, especially when it seems like weather will cooperate.
- Invite some other believers to join you in a service project. Help a neighbor who needs it, pick up some garbage, pull weeds at the church property, etc.
- Evangelize together. Go to your local downtown and talk to a few people about Jesus and our church (in that order).
- Set up a physical activity for a larger group to do together. There are opportunities to get to know each other better while playing softball, football, volleyball, pickleball, bowling, Top Golf.
- Visit a nursing home--especially around holidays--to visit with those who are lonely, pray for them, and give them encouragement.
