Go to the Expert Craftsman

I've been on another one of my "This Old House" kicks lately. Roku has two channels that play old episodes non-stop, and I find the shows to be equally entertaining and informative. And I appreciate the irony of watching guys slave away to build a house while I recline with a snack, watching them. One day, the information will come in handy, I'm sure. But I digress.

One of the most amazing aspects of the show is how the experts seem to know everything about every issue they encounter. They are able to diagnose and advise on the spot with thorough observations and plans, along with great precision. There is seemingly no problem that can stump them.

As incredible as that is, I don't consider that to be the most amazing aspect of the show. To me, the most striking element of the program is how the experts are all able to actually do what they know. Yes, they have helpful tools and decades of experiential wisdom; yet, it is most impressive that they are able to carry out every project just as they desire. I understand that it's television and some movie magic is at play; but you cannot argue with the final result. They get it done.

In Scripture, we have an even better experience with wisdom and knowledge. We encounter the One who knows everything about every issue; we hear from the ultimate Expert who is able to diagnose and advise with perfect plans and precision. There is no problem that can stump Him. In addition to that, we see Him become flesh and actually do everything that is good and right. We see Him walk among us, acting and responding perfectly--without any movie magic. He gets it done, without any error.

So, consider the word of God to be your insight to the expert information that only the Creator could have. Hold on to the Bible as the only perfect wisdom that directly applies to your life. Cherish Scripture as the whole counsel of the all-knowing God. Read it, and let His majestic wisdom change you.
