The Christian Music Scale

Piggy-backing off of my last post about the top Christian albums of 2014, I decided to flesh out my thoughts a little bit more as to how I view the Christian music scene in general.

Below you'll find a scale I made that charts out how biblical bands are (or aren't). The concept with the percentages is that we can gather a rough idea of how much the words of Scripture influence the words of songs made by any given band.

My points are obviously debatable, as this is heavily my opinion. For instance, someone may know a lot more about Owl City than I do and bring to light that they actually have an album full of hymn covers. I doubt that's the case, but you get my point.

Regardless of what you think of my lists of examples (the bands), consider the rest of the chart. It's a scale, or ruler, that you can use to figure out what music is edifying and biblical and what music falls short of the Bible's command to "admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit," (Col 3:16, NIV).
